How to setup and Implement Google Analytics in Joomla 1.5

Before you begin you will need to create a Google account. If you have already done this you can skip this step and move on to the next.

Setting Up a Google Analytics Account:

 

Go to: http://www.google.com/analytics/

If you have a Google account you can just login and start setting up your profile. If you do not have a Google account like Gmail you can setup using your current email address.

- Click "Sign Up Now"

- Enter your email address and create a password.

Google will send an email that you. You will need check your email and confirm your account.

- Click on "Click here to continue"

- Login using your email address and password you just created.

- Click on the "Sign Up" button

- Enter your website address

- Name the Account name what ever you want

- Select your location and time zone

 

 

Complete Information

 

 

 

- Select your Country or Territory. (The reset of the information is not required.)

- Select the agree to terms and click on the "Create New Account" button

- Copy the Code. We will need to paste this in Joomla

Implementing Google Analytics Script in Joomla

 

- Log in to the Joomla administrator panel

- Select Extensions > Template Manager

 

Extensions > Template Manager

 

 

- Select the Radio button for you template

- Select Edit

Select Template and edit

 

- Select Edit HTML

Scroll down to the bottom. You should see something that says "body"

You will want to paste your Google Analytics code above the tag.

Save your settings. It will take about 24 hours before you see data.
