Quick Overview:

I have been using a computer longer then I can remember. I have spent the last 12 years working in the IT industries. I am currently working as a System Administrator for a large company supporting a mixed enviorment of Linux, Windows and Mac operating systems.

My true passion is and always will be Linux and open source software. My eyes light up everytime I hear word Linux . I have been a full time Linux user since early 2004. My distro of choice has changed muliple times over the years. Currently I am a Arch Linux user with Gnome 3 as my Desktop. For servers I really like CentOS and Ubuntu.

How I got started with Linux:

I was working on a help desk and a very important user's computer crashed. The hard drive seemed to be fine but had an issue with a virus and a corrupt boot loader. Some one mentioned using Knoppix to recover the data. (A live Linux boot disc) I jumped online and download the ISO file. After 15 minutes I had all the data backed up and on a network drive, I could not belive that something that didn't cost me anything and booted off a disc could be so powerful.

I started to play around with Knoppix more and later learned about other distros like debian. Soon I stumbled across a new linux distro that had come out, Ubuntu. It was very easy to use worked with almost all my hardward out of the box and was extremley powerful. At that point I decided to see if I could complete all my computer task using just Linux. I had my struggles at times but it was really was just finding that alternative application to complete a specific task. Soon I was doing things much more efficiently then I was on windows.

Whether you are running a business or just want to beef up your home network. Linux is a great choice. Its Free, Secure and very customizable. I want help you to start using and getting more out of these great tools.
