Find what version of Ubuntu you are running E-mail

There are several ways to see what version of ubuntu you are running. I will show you how to find what version you are running both in Bash and and with the GUI.

 

To find what version you are running with a terminal window type the following command:

 # cat /etc/issue

You can also use this command

 # cat /etc/lsb-release

 

 

Example of command in action

 

 

To find what version you are running in the GUI please use the steps below:

 

- Click on System > Administrator > System Monitor

launch

Under the system Tab you should see the version along with some other useful system information.
